In November 2024, the Kiel Life Science (KLS) priority research area at Kiel University (CAU) presented the Kiel Greifswald Alliance Award for the first time in addition to its own science awards. The new prize, worth €5,000, was announced by the CAU’s life science priority research area in collaboration with the University of Greifswald.
The award serves to promote cooperation between the two northern German universities in the area of life sciences. Specifically, it aims to initiate new collaborative research networks between the two locations by providing seed funding.
The first award winners
- Prof. Matthias Peipp (Kiel) und Prof. Christian Schmidt (Universitätsmedizin Greifswald), Projekt: „Verbesserte Immuntherapie gegen hämatologische und solide Tumoren durch Kombination von induzierten angeborenen T-Zellen und bispezifischen Antikörpern“,
- Prof. Marc Bramkamp (Kiel) und Prof. Sven Hammerschmidt (Universität Greifswald), Projekt: „Entschlüsselung der Heterogenität von Streptococcus pneumoniae (Pneumokokken) -Mutanten mit gestörter Teichosäure-Biosynthese auf Einzelzellebene”,
- Prof. Dr. Gabriele Uhl (Universität Greifswald) und Prof. Stanislav Gorb (Kiel), Projekt: „Spermienaufnahme und ‑abgabe bei männlichen Spinnen: eine funktionelle, biomechanische und neurobiologische Perspektive“,
- Dr. Markus Blaurock (Universitätsmedizin Greifswald) und Prof. Markus Hoffmann (Kiel), Projekt: „Die Auswirkungen von perioperativen Antibiotika auf das Ergebnis und das Mikrobiom von Patienten, die sich einer Laryngektomie unterziehen”.
