The Hanse University Alliance invites AStA representatives to Leuphana University
Ten representatives from the General Students’ Committees from Hamburg University of Technology and the Universities of Kiel, Lübeck, Oldenburg and Rostock joined the networking meeting. Emil Jüchter, spokesperson for the Lüneburg General Students’ Committee (AStA), initiated the meeting and prepared its content.
The idea for the two-day meeting arose during the launch of the Hanse University Alliance (HUA) at Leuphana University in early December 2024. Student representatives from other universities were invited to attend the event, and they are returning guests this year. “The Hanse University Alliance arranged the financing and organisation and supported us with the preparations. And we can contribute and work on our topics. It’s a very good thing,” says the student of cultural studies. Ten representatives from student councils within the HUA came to exchange ideas on finances, internationalisation and committee work. Annabell Kretschmer from the University of Rostock is focusing on the crisis in voluntary work: “How can we get more people interested in getting involved? I’m interested in how other student councils recruit members and motivate them to stay in the long term without the work seeming deterrent,” says the Master’s candidate.
Before working together, the representatives had the opportunity to enter into dialogue with the President of Leuphana: “Thank you very much for being so willing to give up your free time for your fellow students and take a further step towards networking. The DNA of this university alliance is about studying and teaching. Our second concern is not only to bring the ten member universities together, but also to say: We are an opportunity for society, for innovation and for politics,” said Sascha Spoun.
Emil Jüchter is very happy with the outcome of the meeting: “The exchange was valuable and collegial. We will definitely stay in touch.”
