The presidents and rectors of the universities in the Association of North German Universities (VNU) have extended the existing cooperation between their universities for another three years until 2024. The association includes the universities of Bremen, Greifswald, Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Lüneburg, Oldenburg and Rostock, as well as the University of Groningen as an associate member.
The Association of North German Universities (VNU) was founded in 1994. Since its foundation, the member universities of the VNU have been dedicated primarily to further developing the culture of quality at their locations and supporting teaching, study and research.
The spokesperson for the VNU, Prof. Dr. Johanna Weber, rector of the University of Greifswald, is delighted about the new cooperation agreement. The confirmation of the existing alliance will serve to further strengthen the North as a location for science.
As well as improving the quality of study and teaching at its member universities, the association also focuses on research collaborations. The VNU promotes, for example, the initiation, intensification and extension of research collaborations between its member universities with its ‘Impulse Research’ format.
